Some of you have been asking us when we were going to get our next newsletter out.....well, here it is! All of a sudden, everything is starting to fall together (after many frustrating snafus that made yours truly extremely crabby), and we are excitedly trying to put it all together and out for you to play with.
Let's start with Cynthia Ashby.....This is the second of her spring collections to arrive, and it has some really spectacular styles! We always love Cynthia's dresses, and the Café Dress is no exception. With its novelty rouching and floppy pockets at the hem, this dress is too good not to have in both orchid and praline. Please note that Cynthia is a really great designer but SOMETIMES her colors are a bit peculiar.....maybe in Chicago, orchids ARE a charcoaly brown!!?? Both of her jackets have great details....one can be paired with the pull-on pant and the other with the rouched skirt.....in matching colors, of course!!!
Giselle Shepatin has come up with a truly novel collection for spring!!! The pieces that you see pictured are made of layers of soft cotton tulle (those of you who are Lilith fans know this fabric well!) that she then decorates with whimsical calla lilies in a collection of exquisite fabrics that she finds all over the world. This outfit, or any of its component pieces, is available in lilac or black. We love the way these pieces will mix with Krista Larson's lilac collection that will arrive next week.....
My friend Sarah refers to Ray Harris as my "new best friend". Well, he just might be! We have gotten in a nice collection of new jackets and dresses that seem to continually come and go! Siga and I were very excited to see the new directions that he is taking with his crinkles.....into cottons for summer and heavier weight pieces for fall..... but most immediately we will be expecting more of his crinkled polys in new silhouettes and colors. His jackets and dresses and skirts and tops have become one of my favorite travelers (with Krista, of course!) because they twist into a ball in a zip-lock bag and always look GREAT!
I adore Annette Görtz, a German collection that we introduced a year ago, but I must admit that it has been the cause of my major crabbiness for the last six weeks! Well, we are finally going to put it out because I love it and can't stand having it hang in the office for one more minute!!! We are missing the tee shirts, but you will LOVE the linen jackets and skirts and pants with their novel but sophisticated feel. The deconstructed cotton blouses just plain feel good to wear. AND, you will notice that we have taken our first foray into the mysterious world of shoes!!!!!!!
We have just gotten in a reorder of our ItemZ linen shirts in our three favorite styles....the vent shirt, the asymmetric shirt, and the long back shirt. We love the earthy feel of cocoa, the softness of lavender, and the charged up brightness of hot pink and orange and turquoise and acid green!!!!! These shirts are all made of a gorgeously soft 4½ ounce linen that washes beautifully.....and yes, it wrinkles.....but just try drying it with no heat and wearing it a little rumpled all over. It's a great look!
There will be more new clothes in the March and 1/4 newsletter......but try these great ones NOW!!
New accessories are coming in too.........
Jill Schwartz had her spring jewelry collection here about one day after we got back from seeing her at the New York Show!!! Are we just too lucky being considered one of her best customers? She had some of her things ready to ship early for us.
Debbie from Glitterlimes was right at her heels, running in with her collection of tiny pears and apples, blood oranges and limes. These pins are made from real fruit, kissed with glitter, and locked into the future with a shiny protective finish. These pins are fabulous to give as gifts for that unusual accessory......and soon we will have bracelets too!
Bo's Art Studio has come up with new shapes and materials for spring. We love the look of the new long, skinny bag.....the feel of black and red snake.....the clash of colored metallic mesh.....and the stylish feel of the cell phone/evening bag!!!!!
Ruth Spencer continues to design new looks on a theme.....the newest being her long skinny neckpieces in black with brightly colored polka dots!
We have new Sox Trot knee highs.....
AND....the GALLERY.....
Help!!! Help!!! We need more space!!! Siga and I found just way too many wonderful things on our journeys to the New York International Gift Fair and the Baltimore and Philadelphia craft shows. Some of them are beginning to arrive.....
Pictured below you see some new work from Lynn Muir. Lynn 's whimsical figures and boxes are all made from materials washed up by the sea or otherwise found outside her home in Cornwall . You can always recognize the source as you notice the hair...sculpted by Mother Nature! I always love to make up stories about her people based on their expressions....take a close look, and you'll want to do the same....
We have wonderful new books for children of all ages.....great pop-ups for the kids, and a lot of humor for the other kids. We even have an alternative baby book....."Baby's First Tattoo"....courtesy of a tip from my friend Barbara!
We have gorgeous new brightly printed dish towels from France ... all kinds of chocolate covered, candy coated goodies from Cocoa Room...great new salts and serving accessories from the Clay Company...and...and...and......OK, so I guess you know that I think we have a place full of some pretty fun and wonderful stuff! I don't like just ANYTHING, you know. So, I hope you will come in to see us or call us soon......
Cheers!!!!!

P.S. Those of you who won't try that chicken recipe because it sounds fattening or yucky don't know what you are missing!!! Somebody we know served it four times last week!!! AND, I made it last night for guests with Chilean sea bass instead of chicken, and I have to tell you that I am going to do that again too....
