Well, for some reason it feels like forever since I last wrote a newsletter....just like it feels like FOREVER that we have been waiting for our latest deliveries to arrive.....
NOW!!! We have a GORGEOUS new group from Blanque for summer. I say gorgeous because the fabrics came in looking .....simply spectacular!!!!! We are talking about the crinkle cotton blend and the "crock" textured cottons in simple but wonderful shades of citron (a newer, deeper, acidy green), cobalt (I can't believe I am actually saying this, but, yes, it's NAVY.....a really, really fabulous deep navy), and white. The styles are all of the ones you love, and I can just about guarantee that they are going to disappear FAST!!!!!
Every week we get a couple of little boxes from London, never quite sure of what to expect from Ray Harris, but that it will be great.....His crinkled polyesters are available in about thirty different colors, and we keep getting new styles from which you can choose. I have had to bring my personal favorite jacket in from home for you to try and order because our stock pieces never seem to make it through the day!!! It is the one piece that I cannot sell, so it is here for everyone to try on.....We have also just gotten our first two styles of Ray's crinkled cottons for summer.....these are only available in black or in white.....the slit neck tank and the horizontal long-sleeve shirt. You see these pieces featured with Lilith pants and with Blanque pants and a jacket. Easy, breezy, casual smarts for the summer!
Last summer we introduced some novelty Tyvek jackets that we just had to bring back for another season, and this time we added even more new styles! For those of you who don't know what Tyvek is and are looking at these jackets and think they look like paper.....well, you are sort of almost right!!! Tyvek is a Dupont material that is used for housing insulation, and probably most popularly used to make Federal Express envelopes (ever tried to destroy one of those?!?!?) The beauty of this material is that it repels water, acts as a windbreaker, and looks better and feels softer with wrinkling and wear.....to say nothing of the fact that it will most probably amaze your friends! We have repeated our most popular jacket, the white one with the black gasket punch pocket. The new ones that we have added are trimmed with "interdepartmental correspondence" and pack into a fairly small pouch for throwing in your bag! And because we are crazy.....about Tyvek.....we have brought in a small, medium, and huge pillow made of it too. And the totes and shopping bags aren't too bad either!!!!!
We have had a trickle of our Krista Larson summer collection come in.....what with fabric problems and days lost with no power during unseasonable storms.....but we are anxiously awaiting the bulk of it to arrive next week.....AND, it will be worth waiting for!!!!! Susan Riedweg's new bags have already been reordered because they are such wonderful new styles in such sumptuous soft leathers!!!!! She has added some novel details, such as the hand-lettered dyed wood closures and the zipper pulls that you can use to whistle for that taxi! And, maybe best of all, she has lightened the weight of the bags by lining them with fabric instead of suede, keeping all of the leather trims and details that we love.
Whatever we get from Deborah Cross is always unlike anything else we have ever had. This time we have brought in eight different long scarves that are pieced out of strips of all kinds of magical fabrics in color combinations that sing and dance on whatever you wear. The hardest thing is to choose.....what with all of the colors, they go with so many things!!!!!
Joan Amie boas always add fun to an outfit! We sometimes even feature and sell them with our Mycrapac raincoats!!! Joan has just brought over a new selection of colors that spell summer, fun, and DRAMA (?!??!).
Carol from Rena Luxx has branched out farther than ever with the rock/silver concept that she introduced to us a few years ago. We are showing just two of her new styles, but there are MANY. We have our most popular chokers and bolos, but we have also brought in some more artistically complicated pieces. Curious? Come look!!!
We have a beautiful new collection of earrings from Talya Baharal, including many styles with clip backs for those of you who are always looking for nice ones. We are expecting her new pins and necklaces later in the week.
Then we have the toys. Siga and I just LOVE to buy the toys! If you think we sometimes lose control with our clothes and accessories....?!?
For the last four years I have been thinking of making a section of wedding gifts...DIFFERENT kinds of wedding gifts. Well, it took a little over four years, but we have done it!!! Haven't we?
The people who bring us the funny little bride and groom cake topper bring together a group of artists from Denmark and call the group the "Designer Zoo." A couple of them dreamed up our ginormous boy and girl rabbits dressed up just like any little kids that would love to play with them!
We do have some pretty great stuff for kids, and new among them is our first Susan Lewis original dress. Susan's fanciful appliqué work is easily recognized from our potholder collection or her fabulous one-of-a-kind jackets and Christmas stockings. These dresses can be special ordered by size with any characters or theme of your choice. Is there a special little girl in your life?
....and then there is the big adult toy. Actually, I shouldn't dare call this beautiful piece of artwork a toy. But it is “The Mad Hatter's Tea Party" from " Alice in Wonderland," lovingly crafted by Mona Adisa Brooks. I can't tell you how much time Siga and I spent marveling at all of the fine details....the clothes (the shirt with the contrasting collar with the vest and the jacket and the knickers and the SHOES)....the hand-built furniture....the tiny ceramic tea set......I guess you get the picture!!!!..............
Every day, a few new boxes. Every day a bunch of new playthings. Every day we see our friends. Every day we make new ones!
Life IS grand!!!
