Well, Siga and I are back from our whirlwind buying trip to New York , where we have purchased countless great things for next spring, and we are hitting the ground running with great things for right now and more in the wings...........

My friend Jacque always tells people that I hide all of the best things in the office (just another stockroom, really)........so NOT true!!!!!! But we do have a lot of good stuff that we have been stashing in the upstairs stockroom waiting for this newsletter to go out!!!!!..........

First we have a beautiful new collection from Spirithouse. This collection is made of a rich patterned black taffeta, made with equally rich details. You have been introduced to the buckle skirt in our first collection.....here it is in a more dressed-up fabric. The two jackets that complement it or the soft black drapey pant are equally wonderful, depending on whether you are looking for sophistication or drama. We have photographed the MacFayden jacket from both the front and the back so that you can see the details. This piece actually has a built-in vest, so that you can put any fabulous blouse underneath it.....or none at all. AND, the pleated piece in the back can be buttoned off for a little less drama!!!

We had a tad bit of confusion about the Lynn Mizono blouse. We did not have any good pictures of the white one, so we showed a green metallic taffeta one instead, saying “Imagine this in white.” WELL, I know that some of you only read the pictures(????????) and the rest of you didn't want to imagine........SO, here it is in the real white snowflake crinkle polyester. We have only sizes extra-small, small, and medium left, and what we have is all there will be...........

NOW, I get to talk about the coats. I have been DYING to talk about the coats!!!!!!!!!!!

First I will talk about the coats that are actually here....the ones from Staley Gretzinger. The Celestial Wool Coat is a real beauty. It is made with panels of hand-stamped wool and accented with several exquisite jacquard patterns at the neck and pockets and cuffs and the tie in the back. We have photographed this both front and back so that you can appreciate how fabulous it is. The more casual fleece jacket is also enhanced with wonderful hand made details and will be the “comfy” jacket to wear as the chill of fall sets in.

The two Cynthia Ashby coats are on loan to me so that we can put them in this newsletter because so many of you have been waiting for them, and they are running a little bit late. These coats have a lot of hand work in them to make them as great looking as they are, and Cynthia wanted to see each be perfect before sending them out. Well, we were in New York last week, and so was Cynthia, so the coats will be here SOON!!! Both coats are made of a heavy-weight, yard-dyed linen and should keep you nice and warm until the really cold weather of some regions sets in. Dillon will be available in the Pumpkin as shown and in Sepia and Eggplant. Wade will be available in two of those same colors, but it is Sunday night, and I don't remember which ones. It will NOT be available in the Zucchini color shown.

LOVE these coats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the accessory area...........

We have a whole crop of new felted silk/wool neck things from Ruth Spencer. I am not going to call them scarves anymore because they really aren't. The only purpose they serve is to adorn whatever you are wearing, which they do splendidly! A customer was in the store this past week who has gotten a lot of really wonderful pieces from us over the years, and she told me that she has never gotten so many compliments on anything as she has that “scarf”....ouch!!!!!!

I've always loved to hear someone say “See you in the funny papers!” I haven't a clue what that really means, but I do love what a couple of young people from Southern California have done with them!!!!! The News brings us a whole collection of fun accessories made from the funny papers and newspapers and magazines. We have tote bags and messenger bags.....cosmetic cases and wallets.....clip-on neckties and bow ties.....and to start your day off with a bit of whimsy, how about placemats??????

We have some new watches from Stroke of Art that you finally get to see in pictures!!!!!

And from the gallery......

Washington artist Carol Mosher makes whimsical folk art clocks for the table or for the wall. Her bold colors and found objects make each piece a treasure. Her you see two of my favorites, and if you come to visit, you will see the others hanging on the wall right across from my desk.........

It's time to celebrate the bounty of fall.....the chill in the air, the richness of colors and textures, the approach of the holidays. Come visit or call us!!!!!!!

see you......
